The 43rd Athens Marathon, The Authentic, follows the 1896 route from Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium on Nov 8, 2026. It is a point-to-point road course with a sustained climb from about km 18 to km 31, reaching roughly 248m above sea level, and a final 11km descent into Athens. With around 383m of total ascent, it is one of the hardest courses among major city marathons, run for its history rather than its splits.
