The 2026 Bordeaux Marathon is a flat, fast point-to-point race across both banks of the Garonne River, with about 50m of elevation gain, a 5h30 time limit, and BQ-eligible status. It returns after a 7-year hiatus and is capped at about 4,000 runners.
Why attend here
In early November, Bordeaux's autumn light softens the wide Garonne quays, making the riverside course a scenic, mostly flat run through the city's elegant stone facades. After crossing the modern Chaban-Delmas bridge, reward yourself with a glass of the year's just-released Bordeaux wine and a plate of canelés from a local patisserie, then wander the UNESCO-listed old town as the crowds thin.

Point-to-point route using both banks of the Garonne, with wide riverside quays and city boulevards on asphalt. The only meaningful climbs are the ramps over the river. The historic Pont de Pierre is excluded for 2026 due to construction, so the crossing relies on the modern Pont Chaban-Delmas (with a possible return over Pont Saint-Jean).
