2027 Edinburgh Marathon
The Edinburgh Marathon is a net-downhill point-to-point road race from central Edinburgh to Musselburgh, described as Scotland's largest and the UK's fastest marathon, ideal for a personal best. The course opens with a downhill section out of the city centre, then runs almost entirely flat to near sea level, with about 120m of total ascent.
Come for the marathon, stay for Edinburgh's dramatic skyline—Arthur's Seat and the Castle loom over the course, and late May brings long, mild evenings perfect for post-race strolls along the Royal Mile. Fuel up beforehand with a hearty Scottish breakfast or a warm pie from a local baker, and celebrate with a dram of whisky at a cozy Old Town pub.
