The 2027 Kochi Ryoma Marathon is a point-to-point road marathon starting in front of the Kochi prefectural government offices and finishing inside GIKEN Stadium. The course features two real climbs: the Urado Bridge just past 20 km and the Haruno hill near 41 km. The race has a 7-hour time limit, but runners who pass the final checkpoint at 41.2 km receive a finisher certificate and medal even if they exceed the limit.

The Urado Bridge rises about 43 m over roughly 800 m to the course high point of about 49 m. The Haruno hill lifts you about 31 m over the final 1.5 km into GIKEN Stadium at 33.4 m.

Finisher Medal

Runners who pass the final checkpoint at 41.2 km receive a finisher certificate and medal even if they go over the 7-hour limit.

Course

The course passes Katsurahama, the beach where the statue of Sakamoto Ryoma looks out over the Pacific, then heads west over the Niyodo river mouth bridge to a turnaround at Niinoho-buchi in Tosa City. Two bridge humps of about 16 m sit either side of the river mouth.
