2027 Three Forts Marathon
The Three Forts Marathon is a 27.2-mile off-road South Downs classic over three Iron-Age hill forts with 3,450ft of climb, known as 'The Tough One'. It starts and finishes at Lancing Manor Leisure Centre and crosses Cissbury Ring, Chanctonbury Ring and the Devil's Dyke area over chalk tracks, grass and rough bridleway with stiles.
Late spring on the South Downs means the chalk paths are drying out and the hillsides are a patchwork of green and early wildflowers, with views stretching from Cissbury Ring to the sea. After the race, wander the lanes of Lancing's old village or head to Shoreham for a riverside pint and fresh fish and chips, soaking up the quieter pre-summer atmosphere.
