Jungfrau-Marathon

Running beneath the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau in early September means crisp alpine air and trails framed by peaks still dusted with snow. Between the lakes of Thun and Brienz, you can take a breather on a lakeside path, then warm up with a hearty plate of raclette or rösti in Interlaken's old town. It's a sweet spot: the summer crowds are thinning, the larches are turning gold, and the mountains are at their most dramatic.
