The course starts and finishes at Mayor Kinney Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque, heads west on Central Avenue (Historic Route 66) past Old Town, then turns up the Paseo del Bosque Trail, a paved path that runs alongside the Rio Grande and the cottonwood bosque through the Village of Los Ranchos. Runners reach a turnaround around the halfway mark with the Sandia Mountains framing the view, then retrace the bosque and Central Avenue back to the Civic Plaza finish.
