2026 Honolulu Marathon
Hawaii's iconic December marathon with a 5am dawn start, no time limit, and a scenic, mostly flat loop past Waikiki and Diamond Head. The course starts on Ala Moana Boulevard at Ala Moana Beach Park, passes downtown Honolulu and Iolani Palace, runs through Waikiki, climbs Diamond Head, heads out through Kahala to the Hawaii Kai turnaround, then returns along the coast to finish in Kapiolani Park. It is a USATF-certified Boston qualifier with open registration.
Come for the race, stay for the pre-dawn start along Ala Moana Beach Park, and treat yourself to a post-finish plate lunch in Kapiolani Park — December's dry, warm trade winds keep Honolulu pleasant for exploring Diamond Head and Waikiki between miles. Afterward, cool off with a shave ice and poke bowl, a taste of the city's local food scene that pairs perfectly with the island's relaxed pace.
