One of the flattest and fastest certified marathons on the East Coast, and built for a fast time. The course starts near 42nd Street and Atlantic Avenue in the Virginia Beach resort area and runs largely out-and-back: north along Shore Drive past First Landing State Park and a loop through Fort Story near the Cape Henry lighthouse, then back south through the resort district and down toward Rudee Inlet before the signature finish on the world-famous Virginia Beach Boardwalk overlooking the Atlan +82m elevation
